STEP 1: ÉCHAPPÉ (à la seconde)
Start 5th position
Turn your head slightly to the diagonal of your front foot
Slide both feet out to 2nd position en pointe
Change your head to the other side as you rise to pointe
Close to 5th position, changing the feet
Repeat 4x in a small 2nd position it should be about the width of your hips then 4x in a
bigger 2nd position a wider than your hips


TIPS:
Remember to slide to second position without jumping
coordinate your épaulement with the échappé


STEP 2: BOURRÉE
Start in preparation position B+
Step onto your back foot to arrive in 5th position
Release the knees a bit
Over-cross the back foot
Adjust the front foot to come back to 5th position as you move sideways across the floor
Involve the upper body Once you have reached the other side of the room, change your legs
Repeat 2x on each side 4x total


TIPS:
Keep the thighs crossed the entire time
the upper body takes the attention off the feet
always initiate the step with back foot


STEP 3: PASSÉ RELEVÉ
Start in 5th position
Place the arms in 1st position
Rise to pointe, bringing the back foot to passé and close front
Move forward 4x, alternating your feet
Reverse the step to move backward 4x bringing the front foot to passé and closing back
TIPS:
keep your hips level and avoid “jumping” up to pointe
slide your leg along your standing leg as you go in and out of passé

STEP 4: PIQUÉ PASSÉ
Start in 5th position
Open your front leg to battement à la seconde
Plié and push off your standing leg and bring it to passé
Repeat 2x forward, 2x backward


TIPS:
extend the battement away from you to step onto pointe
use your épaulement to support the step


STEP 5: PIQUÉ ARABESQUE
Slide one foot front and transfer your weight onto it
At the same time, lift your back leg up behind you
Place your arms in 1st arabesque


TIPS:
during your preparation, be sure you are in proper alignment so that your back leg
lifts directly behind you
avoid leaning forward and really step out to arrive in the arabesque position

STEP 6: RELEVÉ ATTITUDE DERRIÈRE
Start in tendu devant
Transfer the weight through a 4th position, arms come through 1st
Lift the back leg to back attitude, plié and relevé on the standing leg, arms arrive in a
couronne high 5th


TIPS:
coordinate the arms and leg throughout the entire step
cross the attitude behind you
keep the knee lifted in the attitude position


STEP 7: RELEVÉ ATTITUDE DEVANT
Start in 5th position
Plié with the arms in 1st position
Brush the front foot to the attitude position, rise to relevé on the back foot, open the
arms to 2nd


TIPS:
keep your front foot higher that your knee, with the heel lifted
use your épaulement to lengthen the step
