Single, start with your leg in second position at 45° en l’air. Keeping the thigh still, trace your foot through an elongated oval or triangle, coming in just behind the calf of your leg, passing to the front and returning to 2nd position. In Ballet this is known as rond de jambe en dehors. When the movement is reversed, i.e., coming to the front of the calf first, it is known as en dedans. For a double rond de jambe, bring your foot in as for a single and open only halfway to Ind position, come in again and finish in 2nd.
